Prof. Theocharis Kyriacou

Prof. Theocharis Kyriacou is Professor of Artificial Intelligence in York Business School at York St John University. With more than two decades of experience in higher education, research, and academic leadership, he has built a distinguished career at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and Data Science. He holds a BEng in Electronic Engineering from the University of Sheffield and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Plymouth. His research focuses on applying AI to address complex real-world challenges across healthcare, education, biology, agriculture, and industry, with a strong emphasis on ethical and explainable AI. He has led numerous UKRI-funded and industry-sponsored projects and developed successful collaborations with leading organisations to translate research into practical impact. Alongside his research, Theocharis is a passionate educator and mentor, committed to fostering innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and inclusive learning environments that prepare students and researchers to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
